Issues to Consider

Potential Issues for Consideration

While I am holding space for all positive thoughts for your easy, natural delivery, there are a number of birthing complications that can lead to internal bleeding which lend importance to the consideration of the Vitamin K shot or the Oral version:

  • Preterm delivery
  • Low birth weight
  • Forceps or vacuum extraction delivery (significant fetal head molding)
  • C-Section delivery
  • Extremely fast labor or extremely prolonged labor, particularly during the pushing phase
  • Mother’s use of antibiotics, anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, and some other drugs during pregnancy
  • Undetected liver disease

Choosing to circumcise your baby boy is another consideration for Vitamin K. It is notable that the Bible instructs that circumcision be done on the 8th day of life (Genesis 17:12). Interestingly, science shows that on the 8th day the baby has its highest levels of both Vitamin K and Prothrombin, another clotting factor.

Should you choose to have your baby administered Vitamin K, please know that you can request the preservative-free injection, or the Oral Version, which can avoid concerns with the injectable form.

Please read the “Boxed Warning” and the ingredients in the synthetic Vitamin K shot.
